Lemista powers to victory in the Grade 3 Matchmaker Stakes at Monmouth Park

 In Latest News

At Monmouth Park on Saturday, Lemista gained a deserved first Graded victory in the US in the Grade 3 Matchmaker Stakes. The 5 year old mare looked the consummate professional when leaving the gate and eased to second place through the first turn. Under a firm hold from Flavien Prat just off stablemate Flighty Lady, she was then released to power up into first before the final turn. The field roared down to the finish with Vigilantes Way challenging along with Brown’s third runner in the field, Fluffy Socks but Lemista held on gamely to win the 1 1/8 mile event.

This was a second success at Graded level for Lemista since being purchased privately for Peter Brant with Michel Zerolo of Oceanic Bloodstock. Her previous success coming in the Group 2 Kilboy Estate Stakes at The Curragh.
